Sugar Skull Painting & Process / Day of the Dead - Art Show
This piece is a collaboration between me and my wife. We did this piece for the annual Dia de los Muertos Artshow , in downtown Orlando. Every year this "day of the dead" themed art show is one of the best group art shows in Orlando. It is held at the City Arts Factory Gallery.
I did the drawing and outline of the skull while my wife pained it in.
Here is the initial very rough sketch, just to get the start of the skull and make it as symmetrical as possible.
Next here is the the full pencil sketch of the skull with the details as well.
Below is after i have gone over the pencil sketch with a paint marker and sharpie. These lines eventually get painted over to make it pop more, but that is after the color has been added inside.
Last before I handed it over to my wife to fill in the skull, I painted the Orange background seen in the picture below
After i completed the background i passed it over to my wife to paint in the skull. Here is one more finished product photo.
