Om Namah Shivaya is Mahamantra, an appeal to Shiva.

Om Namah Shivaya, is one of the main Vedic and tantric mantras. Its literal translation means " worship of the Good (Shiva)" and it is called the five-syllable mantra.

Five primary elements are embodied in this great mantra. "On" is earth, MA is water, Shi is fire, VA is air, and "Ya" broadcast.

The mantra removes all negative effects. Brings inner and outer harmony. Gives the ability to keep the mind in silence and calm. Grants intuitive knowledge, fearlessness, endurance, detachment, confidence. Protects against evil influences and bad karma.

This mantra is the bestower of all the riches, all the perfection and thanks to her wise men reach sayujya-mukti, merging with God.

The process of reading the mantra calms the mind and stops thought (Dharana and Dhyana) and as the mantra of the Liberator and the Destroyer of illusion (Maya) leads to Samadhi and bestows liberation (Mukti, Moksha). Unlike other mantras, which give temporary transitory benefits (wealth, prosperity, siddhi, love, etc.), the mantra of Shiva grants eternal good – Sat Chit Ananda (Genesis/truth, knowledge/consciousness, bliss) and liberation.

Therefore, the good of Shiva comes through destruction: the awakening of Truth is possible only through the destruction of illusion, the awakening of the spirit – through the destruction of the ego, immortality in Eternity – through the death of all time and transient.

The mantra of Shiva is also considered a mantra, performing all the desires. But He does it on the basis of its role as a destroyer of illusions. The minds of ordinary people are filled with different conflicting desires and impulses. Man, sometimes, I do not know what he wants.
