The Enchanted River Series #2

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hey Everyone

My name Jason Todd and today I wanted to share the second in a series of paintings that I've been creating.

It's a series of paintings that follows an enchanted river that weaves it's way through a series of "neighborhoods" in a magical land where creatures reside in homes made from trees and earth. In the series there is a little sailboat that travels down the river stopping off in different ports along the way.

The goal with this piece was to create a busy feeling town on the enchanted river. My feeling when I look at this painting is that in the far back on the right side of the scene is a little shoppe where the people who live in this town can purchase the things they need in their daily lives.

In the front of the seen on the right you'll find what I like to think of as a little Italian restaurant with it red and white umbrella. I think the main fare there is spaghetti. It just reminds me of a place where you could order the best plate of spaghetti you've ever experienced.

Just coming under the bridge you'll find the sailboat weaving it's way down the river.

On the left I imagine that's where most of the people of this place reside. It seems to me that there are some cottages and in the back perhaps some town-homes or apartments, there are even a few very small homes throughout the scene and along the river.

While I painted this scene I took a few pictures of the process that I've listed below.

Did You paint with oil?

Yes it's oil on canvas.

Can we petrol use it?

Hi @zua I'm not sure I understand what your question?

Amazing .. wonderful .. you are very talanted . It is very interesting how you made from day-picture nigth-pictue)) I mean last two pictures )) at any case it is wonderful

It's very colorful but realistic. I love it!

Wow that you so much!

It is a beautiful and enchanting place I would love to call home.

That's my hope, that you get to call it home while you view it, and then take some of it with you! Thank you.

Mission accomplished!

This is amazing! You have a lot of talent and obviously have put a lot of time and practice into your work, well done

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Your imagination is amazing! And your watercolor technique to be envied - how about doing a video of your progress on this.

Thanks you and I've been thinking about doing a progress video on my next piece. I want to do one more Christmas themed painting this month before Christmas :)

well now that you have digitized it, you could add some snow and stuff, no? xD

Actually I probably wouldn't add anything digitally I like to keep them as close to original in digital form as possible, but I am working on another piece right now that has snow and ice that will be finished very soon. :)

Oh so cool! In time for the last seven says of the year also haha... Your work is really amazing, keep it up, and good thinking not adding digital stuff! You use oil paint, right?

Yes I only use oil never add anything digitally :)

Well my personal opinion is, that someone as talented as you look thus far, would be GREAT at using digital tools... I mean, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchBook, even this online tool named Canva, would be at your feet... But of course, those take time and dedication too (except maybe the last one xD), so if you dedicate yourself fully to oil painting and are settled with it, so be it. :D Happy new year to you! May 2018 be full of blessings and many more of your masterpieces, sir!

Actually I am pretty proficient with photoshop and other programs, it's just that I don't use those tools to enhance the oil paintings that I create :) Although if I need to adjust the "levels" I will use that.

wow Id also like and vote for that! maybe another work from u? :D

Thank you, I appreciate that! I have several other paintings that I've posted in the blog, here's one I post list night if you'd like to take a look. https://steemit.com/art/@pennyroll/the-morning-light-oil-on-canvas

On my way, thanks for sharing! :D Blessings

I am a student of architecture and many of my friends are artists so i know how much work and time would have it took for you to create something this good ... I myself am abstract art lover but i like what u have created ...
great job my friend and keep up the good work.

Isn't this painting fantastic. A true artist here in @pennyroll
Abstract.. you may like my art then.. Feel free to check my blog.

Your art is really cool as well! Unlike anything I've seen before!

thank you so much, that means a lot!

I just took a look at your work and you're right I really like it quite a lot. I can relate to what your saying with your work. Awesome!

appreciate the love my friend

Thank you so much, your right this one did take some time. I started it last year and then put it down while I worked on other pieces. Then one day the inspiration for finishing it came. That's why there is a bit of a leap from the last progress picture to the final piece. Thank you so much for your kind words!

well beautiful things do comes with time ....
Keep up the good work brother. @pennyroll

This is another gorgeous painting Todd. Your talent for creating these enchanted forest type scenes continues to amaze and delight me. I also love you describe the back story that goes into each painting, which really adds to your art.

Thank you for showing the process in this one as well. This is a really great post.

Thank you choogirl I was so amazed to see what happend over night I'm a bit stunned!

And by the way I made this post last night right after you suggested I should make another post with progress pics so another big thanks to you!

It is amazing indeed... Leaves one with eyes wide open and mouth dropping --almost!

Here is a crazy idea: if you are into scenes and fantasy, why not create a Night Elf village, a Blood Elf Sanctuary... You know what I mean?

Maybe a sketch of Rivendell or Lothlórien if you like LOTR! :D Happiness and blessings to you, and Steem on!! (Y)

Nice painting, I remember the place I grew up with. I wish I can find time as well doing an image of a laid back village where I used to live.

Its a good thing that there is a section for almost anything here in Steemit that you love to do and share with people.

A beautiful piece of artwork, indeed.
