You rock my world!

How to turn a stone into something really cool!

A week ago, I found my new hobby, painting dots on stones! There is a whole world in this niche and I can't wait to find more and more about it! I saw the most amazing paintings done by Elspeth McClean, who I believe started this a long tiem ago. I want to become as skilled as she is with this art! But for now I just follow my heart and have lots of fun!

If you want to learn more about Elspeth McClean please make sure to have a look at her amazing website!

On the picture above, you see my mom holding the stone I made! This is the biggest one so far! Chris went to a lot of stores to find them and after a few days he finally did! I was so happy when he came home and told us he had a nice heavy surprise! These stones weigh about a kilo each and he bought a few!

Before I started, I stared at this stone for at least 10 minutes. Not because I had no idea what to do, but because I just loved the stone! ( I might have cuddled it a few times)

The first thing to do was paint it black! ((Sings paint it black)) I do like the naturel colors of the stones but for now I can focus better on the dots and colors when I paint them black! I used normal acrylic paint for the whole project.

Because I used way too much black paint, I had to wait like ten minutes for it to dry! Nice break time for a smoke and a pink cookie! After that it was time to start dotting! To help me and my mom even more my partner printed all kinds of pictures from stones for us! To give us a few more ideas! Gosh, I love him!

I did not do this stone in one day! There were so many dots to be dotted which made me dotter so much, I could dot no more that day! After this part I went to bed. (Read: Spend the rest of the day on Steemit and Discord because sleep is something we no longer do!)

The second day I used to finish the stone and go back into the middle to add some extra small dots for more effect! The more dots came, the more I fell in love with my stone!

Above you see a close up of the finished stone! I gave it a special place in my living room! Next to a picture and the ashes of my dad! He always loved my creative work so I dedicated this one to him! Many more will follow!

I need more stones, that's a simple fact! I might be a stone addict now and I wonder if there is a support group for that! Hi, my name is Snekky and I am a stone addict!

As always, thank you for reading my post! It's much appreciated!

i just need to find a good time when im not impatient (good painters stop to let their paint dry...) and my neck/arm isnt bothering me (bad tendonitis). how did you get the dots round? mine always come out blobby...

I used dotting pens! They have a small ball in different sizes. They are amazing and are also very cheap. You can also use these brown thing from wine bottles... I totally forgot the name! Shoot me!

oooh. ima need to look into this nao. dotting pens you say??? puts on list

Yes, thats how I call them lol

Very nice, I also paint mandalas on canvas o boxes. It is relaxing and creative. Nice job, thanks for your post.

It is really job which needs a lot of patience and for the hand to be still when you place a dot if not placed at right place it becomes difficult to get rid of those mistakes.. but we see it is perfect.....acurately done and looks fabulous....great job @poeticsnake....
Do preserve them do varnish them or coat with some transparent was whivh will preserve it...and make it shiny....

I was thinking about using some varnish on them for sure! I will keep them inside but accidents happen lol. I just need to buy a spray can of it because I tried it on a smaller stone and the varnish messed up the dots lol.
It took a lot of time but I really enjoyed doing it. Made me calm in my head as well.

When you do stuff you like you always feel that calmness i guess that makes it a hobby...
May be you should laminate it 😂

Would be fun to see if I could LOL LOL
That would be a magic project for sure.

It is a good transformation, the colors in blue tone are so tender that it causes to paint thousands of stones, I would like to know if the painting is oil type? the stone is felt with some bumps after the graffiti? if there is any mistake in my comment is because I don't speak english, love the translator

The stones are river stones and they are super smooth to work on. I used acrylic paint and yes, that is a bit oily if you buy the better ones. The cheaper paints don't hold enough color pigment and oil for my likings!
Thank you for your reply!
