TACO TUESDAYS! - Allow Me To Introduce Myself

in #art8 years ago

Whats going on guys!?

I'm going to take a huge chance and make the ridiculous claim that this is the
introduction that will set the bar for introductions. :: dun dun dun! ::

I have so many stories to share but first things first : this simply may be the platform I've been searching for my whole life...

I was satisfied with Reddit, Twitter, Imgur, Instagram but everyday I see more censorship and freedom of speech being suppressed . Disillusioned with the blatant
collusion of media and private interest groups, this new outlet has given me hope once more.

But before I get ahead of myself :

"Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop."
- Lewis Carroll

Who?

My name is Manuel and I'm a creator. I'm originally from Bogota, Colombia but moved to the U.S when I was a kid. I found my calling as a Computer Animator working in the Game Industry, but I'm perpetually crafting projects and mastering the art of visual expression. At age 25 I've already worked at my dream job, found true love, experienced heart ache, broken bones, experienced miracles, and dare I say : found the meaning of life. But my plans are far from done! I have dreams to accomplish and skills to master.

What?

Ever since I can remember I've had a pencil in my hand.

My main source of curiosity was the peculiar state of seeing images in my mind and not having the skill to create them.
(Sketchbook pages at age 10)

My first encounter with determination came to be as I decided to improve as an artist; gather knowledge by building skills in different mediums of visual expression.

When/Where?

When to begin my journey as a creator? Then and there, in than very moment. Always, no time to waste!

How?

Even though I couldn't articulate it, I understood early on that there is a formula to achieve your personal goals.
formula: Practice = Goal .

The key to practice is repetition ; endless repetition.
The key to repetition is determination.
The key to determination is discipline.

(but why repetition? Due to the fractal design of nature and how everything is created by self repeating patterns, it makes sense that the habits and skills we desire can only be achieved through the phenomenon of repetition.)

Learning different mediums is like having a toolbox of options to create an image.

WHY

P.S : All images and art work is mine, except for this - obviously. I have not discovered the fountain of youth or invented a time machine nor am I a vampire that has been alive since 38,000 BCE

Because the unique ability to look within and project a representation of our interpretation of reality is magical. Someway somehow we evolved to have a voice that needs to be heard, it is the monumental act of self expression that made us humans.

WHAT NOW?

Reflect and Create My favorite cycle in the human experience.

(* I promise to tell you more about the Breaking Bad painted van, my ritual of skateboard art, the Assyrian Lion mural and how it checked my ego, all the whys and who and how I created these. For now this is just a little teaser!)

WHATS NEXT?

I am so new to this whole cryptocurrency world I'm completely lost and confused. For now, I am reading up on blockchain, looking into Arcade City, listening to podcasts and trying desperately to understand the ropes.

I've documented so many aspects of my life experience that my game plan for Steemit is to give you all great stories, great photographs, entertaining memories backed by visuals. Ultimately, I have found a sweet state between inspiration and a relentless commitment to self improvement that I want to share and perhaps be a catalyst for inspiration.

You are right- this is the introductions of introduction- AMAZING!
I love that car, I now need to resist drawing on my car!
Really exciting work, looking forward to seeing more. I was already following you from your first post- I was just waiting to see if you verified (which you have).

@opheliafu haha I have a special place in my heart for painting/skating on cars. I will totally do a post of my first car painting the Psychedelic OldsMobile.

Looking forward to that!!!

I sincerely cannot wait to see more of your work.
I love your energy and aura. I'm a complete art wannabe but I've also taken about 30 years off from this area of creativity so I expect my stuff to look like I'm in kindergarten. LOL
I really love that wall mural too!
Great intro! @opheliafu - I hope you've got him on your radar!

@merej99 I know it sounds cheezy but the beauty is that theres no wannabe's in art! It is the act of creating that makes the artist - not the finished product. I do understand the feeling though, but theres no trick or magic to it just practice. Don't be embarrassed I have plenty of books filled with kindergarten pieces.

Hey, Manuel,

I really enjoyed reading your introduction and looking at your work. Lovely!

I've followed you; I am a "fellow creator" and understand the drive to create. I hope you'll visit my blog and consider following me, @creatr . Welcome to Steemit! ;)

Hey @creatr Thanks for the kind words, I'm digging your ocean themed posts. It seems the waves and tides have created a sense of home in you. Glad to see you posted a painting, keep creating!

Thanks for sharing your artwork Manuel, it's very good. What is your favorite kind of taco?

@robrigo Asking the real important questions! 100% the ChocoTaco ice cream.

Love your art. Are you selling those t shirts? Rad.

Welcome to steemit @psychedelictacos ! Looking forward to seeing you take pen to paper :)

Thanks for the warm welcome @voronoi I will totally be making progress posts to show everything from rough idea to completion!
