Midnight Mooring, at my little Gallery on Spadina Avenue.

This piece is called Midnight Mooring. In Mikey's Wiarton years, he spent many nights wandering along the water's edge.

On this night, the ships whispered together, gently swaying under the soft glow of the full moon. The reflective light parts all but glowing against the deep cola waters of the bay.

Mikey's grandfather had operated a fishing ship, though he never got to meet him, he grew up with stories of the long months his grandfather spent away on the ship, and what life was like on the water.

The frame this piece resides within is a found frame. The stressed look, the artist decided to be a feature rather than a flaw. The worn wood, just as the ships would wear down do look, with little dings and scratches from wear and tear.

We're doing a closing gala for this one tomorrow. I'll be sad to see it end, but alas, it is time to get that next artist in here. Hopefully we can get a couple more people out tomorrow, and maybe just maybe, another sale for Mikey. That'd be alright.

As ever, if you love what you see and you want to support but you can't manage a purchase right now, we are more than happy to accept donations - to be split evenly between the curator and the artist at time of donation.
