This song of Mungo Jerry (1970) has been my number one summer hit since decades. I loved it in winter time too. But now, nearly fifty years later on, I finally read the words of this song an I don't like it anymore because of all the stupid content. You know, I never tried to listen to the words of a English song because my English has not been so good. I just loved the music. Now I've read the words and found out exactly what they sing about. I don't like it anymore because of a lot of stupid words. Their speaking about girls is not very good. Making a ton and twenty five on the lane after a drink, that's not what I would appreciate in summertime. Oh no, these are not the guys, I want to see my daughter strolling around with. If she still would listen to my appointment.

Dieser Song von Mungo Jerry (1970) war immer einer meiner Lieblings Sommerhits, über Jahrzehnte. Ich mochte ihn sogar im Winter. Aber jetzt, fast fünfzig Jahre nach seinem Erscheinen, habe ich den Text endlich mal gelesen und mag das Lied nicht mehr. Ich habe selten versucht, in englischen Songs den Texten zu folgen, weil mein Englisch immer sehr schlecht war und mochte einfach nur die Musik. Heute habe ich den Text gelesen und finde, es sind erstaunlich viele, dumme Worte dabei. Was sie über Frauen singen, das ist wahrlich nicht gut. Nach einem Drink mit 125 MPH über die Straße donnern, das ist auch nicht gerade das, was ich am Sommer schätze. Oh nein, das ist nicht die Art Kerle, mit denen ich meine Tochter herum ziehen lassen würde. Wenn ich ihr noch was zu sagen hätte.
Ich liebe Rautie's Sicht auf den Sommer.
