The Process Of My Portraits.

in #art7 years ago

I love art. One thing about it that fascinates me is the process of it. Seeing a blank piece of paper or canvas brought to life motivates me to draw. I love to draw various types of things. Lately I have been doing portraits a lot.

This sketch here is the outline. To me, this is the reference point to where I want to go with this portrait. Included are the eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows. This is the whole set up of how this drawing will turn out. For some reason, I like to complete the eyes of the portrait first. I feel like once I get those right, I feel more confident in how the drawing will turn out.

Next. If filling in the picture. I start shading as well. I like to use a smear tool that came with my art pencils. I also like to use a simple Q-Tip to help shade and blend my artwork. I personally feel like I need to expand my horizons more. What I mean by this is using charcoal pencils instead of using the standard lead pencil. Since I'm on the topic of pencils right now, for the eyes and small details. I use the mechanical pencil with 0.5 size lead. For most of the other parts of the drawing, I use the 0.7 mechanical pencil.

This is the finished product. It's a rewarding process for me just to see another picture come together. I love to see sketches, paintings, graffiti, and all types of art come together.
Let me know what you think.
