Dissection of Apollo Belvedere (Ballpoint Pen Drawing)

in #art7 years ago (edited)

A ballpoint pen drawing I drew of Apollo Belvedere, a celebrated marble sculpture created by the Greek sculptor, Leochares.

By lightly stroking the ballpoint pen across the paper, I was able to build up layers of ink to create the shading and form. Adding more layers of ink created a darker tone (let me know if you'd like me to do a post further explaining and demonstrating this technique). After I had finished using the ballpoint, I went over it with a light layer of pencil, which added a smoother texture to the drawing.

It would be really lovely if you could post further, as you suggested, demonstrating this technique.
