A song of fire and ice | Handmade glass pendant

When it comes to inspiration for my glass work most of it has some sort of geeky tie in.

This piece is no exception, created using a reactive glass that turns different colours when exposed to different flame chemistry it brings out blues and reds.
When making this pendant, I started with a clear lens for the front. The reactive colour was added to the back and melted in to the clear glass so it was smooth. The whole piece is shaped to give a flat back and a domed front.

The variation in colour within the pendant comes from creating the loop for a cord, as the top of the pendant was heated more to stretch it out and loop over.

This brought out reds in the top of the pendant while the bottom of the pendant was still swirled with blues, creating a battle between ice and fire (referencing game of thrones) all within a piece of glass.
