Trying art: Dada or nah nah?

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hello ! I promised to explain what the meaning of the drawing was, so here I am! The first line says: " Dada or nah nah?" ( I will explain the next line in my next post)
dada or nah nah- to art or not to art.jpg
I drew this picture to try creating something based on Dadaism, in order to understand how it works.

The logic behind it was that I'd start thinking without caring about making it look good, but just make it look slightly confusing and give it meaning. So basically, I thought more about making it look like a puzzle, rather than caring a lot about the aesthaetic of caring about the details that much (which happens with many types of art).

Let's analyze the drawing a little bit:
The feather on the top left of the scale and the heart on the bottom right of symbolizes a myth by ancient Egypt, where the heart of a pharaoh would be weighted by the god Osiris, along with the feather of Ma'at on the other side of the great golden scale. If the heart was lighter than the feather of truth, then the soul was freely admitted into the bliss of the Field of Reeds. But, if the heart was heavier than the feather, it was thrown to the floor of the Hall of Truth where it was devoured by Amenti and the individual soul ceased to exist. That meant that the soul would die, so the word that is symbolized is the word "die".The "X" means "no".

"(Die- i)2x or (no-o+ah)2x? = Dada or nah nah? ". That's the decoding behind the first line of the drawing.

Would I recommend trying the Dadaism movement (in drawing, poetry etc.)? Well, it depends on your style of creative behaviour. I mean that if you're all about trying new things and don't care much about what others see, but want to express what you see, then it could be the thing for you! But, even if it's not your cup of tea, that doesn't mean that you cannot try it! There are many types of art you could try, if don't find it to be of your taste, though.

Have a nice day!
