Everyone needs a new look from time to time. Apparently villages are no exception. Last month Kampung Pelangi in Randusari, Indonesia, unveiled an extreme makeover that has seen it dubbed “Rainbow Village”.
Life can be grey at times, but an Indonesian village is doing its best to add some colour and vibrancy to the world with its gaily-hued houses and painted walls.

The village was originally named Kampung Wonosari, and it is currently home to 223 rainbow-coloured houses set in two community units. Each house (and its rooftop) has been painted a minimum of three colours, and 3D drawings adorn the walls. The local bridge and benches have also received the colourful treatment.
