A whole month of Van Gogh appreciation - summery post - artworks
Hello my artful soul sisters (and brothers of course)
We had one whole month that we dedicated to the amazing artist Vincent Van Gogh, celebrating his 165th birthday in this month.
With this post I would like to summarise all our artworks that we have produced for this challenge.
We started the journey by looking at some of his famous still lifes. Obviously the sunflowers were a favourite motive.
The week after we tried to recreate one of his portrait paintings. Van Gogh is well known for his numerous self portraits but he also created a lot of portraits of friends and acquaintances.
The third week of the months was dedicated to his landscape paintings. Van Gogh loved the country in the south of France with its light and mediterranean feel and created multiple paintings showing his connection to nature.
The last week of the challenge we were trying to create our own subject but using Van Gogh's style that we had studied before. The most challenging but also the most rewarding exercise. These are the paintings that we came up with.
All in all this was a great experience, we learned a lot and gathered in-depth knowledge of his technique that you can only understand when actually trying to recreate his works.
I loved it and I cant wait for the month of April when we will be looking at Picassos works.
As usual you all are welcome to join our challenges and maybe next month your painting will be featured here as well.
