Freeform Stone Series: "Brooding Secret"
Ok I'm back after a bit of a school craziness to continue this series with a piece carved in alabaster, mostly. The top layer is cast glass that is clear with inclusions of colour that match the stone. The whole thing rocks on the granite base, and has a rather womb-like feel to it. The glass top piece behaves like a floating translucent skin, and the little ball is removable. Something valuable is tucked away, growing, moving and turning it's way into certainty.
Either that or maybe it's a UFO. Thoughts?

I saw this piece as a mother protector shell. But then I have Mother of Pearl shells that are really dear to me. So association was immediate. Your forms are different again and so beautiful.
