Roscoe just got a smartphone for the first time and decided to take the time to explore this technology with his buddy charmander.

With the age of technology, kids are exposed to things at a much younger age than ever seen before. It’s both a blessing and a curse. Never before has so much information been at the finger tips. No matter if the person is rich, poor, black, or white. Now it a matter of what to do with the information. That leads us to a big dilemma because it is just as easy to watch episode of Dora the Explorer as it is to watch a porno. With that stems so many issue regarding censorship and awareness. On the one hand, we can’t deny access to information based on specific demographics, but also we must be conscious of what is out there. The word that comes to mind when I think of this is “equity.” Equity is the steps taken to provide equality for every person. When we have a bunch of kids spending their time watching vine comps and twerk videos, they come to the conclusion that technology is for that type of entertainment. Hence they want to stride to see that entertainment continue. If we make them aware of all the education that can come from the technology, albeit, the wonderful things Adobe is doing for the art community, or tools such as audio books, we can change the thinking around why these advancements are improving our lives. If we don’t change the thinking around technology, I’m pretty sure future generations will be a bunch of Niggas with Tinder accounts.
