Zentangle Painting # A nice stress buster - Try it

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Did you know about "Zentangle painting", a form of pattern painting?

I came to know about Zentangle painting recently. It was introduced by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. They have a website "https://zentangle.com/" where they teach the method of this painting.

The painting is done, generally on a piece of square paper (3.5"x3.5"). Then we mark four corner points and a center divider string which separates different kinds of patterns.
Then we create different patterns one by one and keep repeating them to make a visually soothing piece of art.
The patterns are made by pen, so that you can't erase. That's the rule of the painting.
The painting is generally done in black and white color. But there is no harm if we make it colorful.
The concept is good and it is fun to do.

It is also good for increasing concentration. It works like meditation. I do it personally sometimes, when I get stressed out.

My 6 year old daughter is hyper active and always wants to experience something new. She, like most of today's generation kids, finds it difficult to concentrate on one thing for long. So, I thought to make her try this painting. I wanted to see whether she likes it or not.

She liked it. She made the below painting. It took an hour for her. In between, she was going out of patience, but I tried hard to make her sit and finish the painting at one go.

We couldn't follow all the rules, as it was her first Zentangle painting.

I liked the outcome. Good work for a 6 year old. I know, she would do better. What say?

Do you like it?
