A SIMPLE GIFT FOR MY SUPERVISOR
HELLO EVERYONE!
Another typhoon has struck Philippines and I am definitely anxious about the chaos it might bring to the populace. I hope everyone is safe regardless of the material things we possess. What's more important is the life we have and the family that we love. So please keep safe and let us all pray for everyone's safety.
Today I couldn't get myself out of the house so I am crafting a simple gift for my supervisor who happens to have her birthday tomorrow. I am not making a big shot here but I just want to show her an appreciation to all her kindness and considerations. My art doesn't cost much money involve but a little talent and skill. I guess it has a small value but a bigger sentimental value because I am doing the gift myself.
My supervisor is a strong woman and lately she has undergone a lot of worries and problems including the death of her beloved Mom and just yesterday her eldest daughter went on surgical operation. I know my supervisor and I can feel her weakness towards all these dilemmas. So I came up with a Bible verse most fitting for her Birthday.
Here we go!
MATERIALS
- 0.5 Pigma Micron Pen
- 0.8 Uni Pin fine line
- 0.8 White Gelly Roll Sakura
- Number 02 Mongol Pencil
- Yipinxuan Watercolors
- White Watercolor Paper
- Pair of Scissors
- Cup of Water
- Palette
- Different size Brushes
- Cottonbud sharpened on the other side
- 6x8 Frame
PROCEDURE
1.) Get the watercolor paper. I used Canson watercolor paper because it is 200 gsm, thick enough to contain wetness and easy to dry. Get the back of the frame and trace it with a pencil on the watercolor paper. Cut the traced part using the scissors.
2.) Using the pencil, draft the message you want to convey. I wrote a Bible verse from Romans 8:28 stating, "ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD."
As you can see I didn't put it on the center of the cut paper but I put some spaces on the upper left and lower right portions for styling purposes.
3.) On the upper left portion of the paper, I painted three flowers of different colors. I used Cobalt Violet, Cerulean Blue, and Alizarine Crimson colors. I dilute them with water and mixed it with Chinese white for a lighter base hue of the flower.
Here's how it would look like.
4.) At the lower right base paint three little flowers and use the same colors as above-mentioned. For the stalk, use Burnt Sienna.
5.) When the bigger flowers dry, add additional details on the petals using the White Gelly Roll Sakura. Use the Cotton Bud to paint thin branches (Burnt Sienna) around the flowers. Get the brush too and start to paint small leaves of variegated colors (English Light Green, Primary Lemon Yellow, and a mix of Alizarene Crimson and Primary Red Cadmium to create a glowing Orange tint). Then add tiny cherries with Primary Red Cadmium.
Here it is. Way to go!
6.) Back at the lottle flowers at the lower right portion of the print, add details (leaves and grass) on the flowers using the same blend of colors used above. Then let it dry for minutes.
7.) We now fall down on the last but not the least step. Get the 0.5 Pigma Micron Pen and trace the pencil draft of the Bible verse. Use the 0.8 Uni Pin Fine Line to make the letters thicker. Erase all pencil marks to make it neat.
8.) Put the project on the 6x8 Frame and we are all set and done!
There you have it ladies and gentlemen!
A simple gift for my supervisor! I have all the materials I needed and all I had done is to sweat it all out and craft the art out of my veins.
We all have skills and talents. We just need to use it in times we need to. Perhaps what is art when it isn't shared?
Let us all spread our arts! We may not know we can until we're done!
Labor of love ❤️❤️❤️
All things work together for our own good to them that loveGod and called according to His purpose 👍👍👍- great encouragement ..
Thank you very much @catietan for the appreciation. Godbless!

Thanks po! :-)
Of all the gifts I've given and all those I've received, I believe the handmade ones are most treasured. It's a beautiful gift, in it's sentiment and execution.
Thank you very much! :-)
