Art - Shredder TMNT - Redesign

in #art5 years ago

Hello!

I decided to share with you one of my ongoing character redesign works, the guy we are talking about in this case is none other than Shredder from TMNT franchise!

This peace was drawn traditionally with pen, ink and markers than afterwards touched a bit in Photoshope to sort out the colors, light and stuff like that.

Here it is:

Always loved him as a villain, gotta admit. Ninja Turtles were a lot of inspiration on me, to start drawing and illustrating at a young age. Really thankful for that.

This mixed media approach adds a lot of freedom to the mix. In the recent time I use this a lot, hence the results that are tad different than previous ones, where all was approached in either digital or traditional way, Fun stuff too :D

The process:

Pen lines, ink on top, general idea workout

Erasing pen lines, leaving ink and working with the color scheme

Full (base) color, ink fix

Shadows, light, detail work, line fix again, finalizing the traditional art part

Photoshop time! Light and color fix, lighting arrangement, a bit of work on background and black n white highlights, final touches with the crop and general scan touchy fixy :D

With a signature, it is done. Thank you for visiting!

More interesting stuff on the way, see ya around and have an awesome day!

Dude, that’s really good. I dig it.

Normally, I don’t see the point of going pen/paper when going 100% digital usually allows for more flexibility and allows for all the same effects with brushes and texture filters.

But for this, I think it worked really well. It’s possible that the piece is even better with the hybrid approach.

Well done!

Yeah, most of the stuff can be done digitally, gotta agree on that, feels nice to experiment a bit tho, gets me going :D Thanks Man!

Cool design. Striking look.
