Colors, shapes and the meaning within...

in #art8 years ago

This is an introduction to an artist i think produces some interesting pieces. I have offered some of my own interpretations of his works, whether they are parallel with the messages the artist is trying to portray is another story :-P

[Colorsuper early motif]

Colorsuper is an artist i have been following for almost a decade. The artist uses a fairly wide range of mediums including digital paintings, hand paintings and 3D modeling. My first encounter was on a blogging website. I was intrigued by the use of nostalgic symbols from computer games and then further by the narrative that i gleamed from piece to piece.

As far as i can deceiver the works comprise of three main categories.

One is a series of, infantile tribal characters...

Another is a series of vivid and colorful patterns and landscapes...

And the third is the female form...

Throughout these categories i see different meanings. These meanings are especially amplified within the pieces i have included below, where the artist intertwines the above categories into a single piece. For me the Tribal works expose the child like nature of human beings. In particular their conflict between the materiel and spiritual worlds. The colorful landscapes seem to represent worlds rich in material resources as well as knowledge. There are often futuristic looking drones scanning within the landscape pieces which is my grounding for this interpretation.

My theories on the female form pieces have changed over the years. To begin with i thought they were about demonstrating how the female form is used to pull attention. Then i started to think maybe this artist just enjoys drawing girls. More recently I'm noticing a correlation between the female pieces and how girls are represented through social media so maybe its to highlight that. But i cant make up my mind.

Colorsuper has been around for a while, I'm not sure when the artist actually started releasing work. But i enjoy digging meaning from the pieces that are released and thought the artist was worthy of a shout out. Ill round up this post with some images of the artist's most recent hand painted canvases of colorful patterns and landscapes. The paintings are so clean cut they look like prints. It's nice to see the original digital illustration style from years ago reinvigorated as hand painted canvases.
