Another additional short scene filmed: an artists diary
Recently our 'Melbourne-based' actor flew to Brisbane so we could film the additional scene. In making opportune an opportune moment we decided to film a separate (and very short) scene that worked on the same premise as the last; to retell in brief what has already been told and give brief summary of, thus leading toward, the scene to come. With the last scene we created exposition through a telephone call between the protagonist and a friend. In this scene we utilised voiceover monologue of a characters thoughts for expositions purposes. The scene depicts a handsome gentlemen walking home, bottle of wine under his arm, from the bottle shop in anticipation of a 'dinner' date with the lead protagonist. The monologue reveals where the gentlemen is headed, why, how, when, to meet whom and for what. Now that has gotta be a big help in reiterating to the audience. Though with some of the absolute junk that's out there these days it's sometimes not to a viewers own blame that they've grown out of the habit of watching, with clarity, a film with a complex plot and distractingly unusual visual stylings.
The short scene we speak of is literally only 35 seconds in running time, though that is a long time for a voiceover monologue in film these days when making comparison to the dominantly successful Marvel series etc. Quite to our luck we caught a full moon and a clear sky and the city lights could be viewed clearly. This was despite the fact that the apparent cloud of smoke from the surrounding bushfires was, (in only days to come), about to result in poor air quality equivalent of that to modern day Bejing. Unfortunately I have been underutilising my camera and being on camera in the dark of night and in the crisp night air was glorious but I felt my skills as a cinematographer were waining severely. Show business is show business and we have no time to mess around re-shooting this lo-fi horror until all eternity. Please see some images below that are screenshots from the footage. Boy, it's not easy to upload screenplay format writing on this platform as far as I can tell!
Some atmospheric shots there. Hope the scene works as you hope
BTW Ignore the downvote. It's someone who got caught out misusing Steem and they hold a grudge.
hey. thanks! :) Oh- I'm so mispractised in using this system that I hadn't even noticed the down-vote until you mentioned it!
