Dwarf galaxies: Hubble sizes up.
Dwarf galaxies are tiny galaxies. They are about 1hundredth the size of the milky way. These galaxies contain only a few billion stars. They too can be classified as elliptical, spiral or irregular. A telescope named Hubble space telescope (NASA/ESA)has taken this image of the phoenix Dwarf galaxy, located 1.4 million light years away from Earth. It is located in the constellation of phoenix in the southern sky.The object ,a dwarf irregular galaxy, features younger stars in its inner regular and older ones at its outskirts. This galaxy was discovered in 1976 by Hans Emil schuster and Richard Martin west. His great contribution to astronomy and to ESO was recognised by the Chilean government last week when he was awarded the medal of the order of Bernardo O' Higggins.
