Living In Athlone

Living In Ireland I wouldn't change, I love this country and the people. Athlone is in the midlands it is almost the centre point of Ireland.

Athlone is a wonderful town on the banks of the River Shannon in the county of Westmeath offering something for almost everyone from art gallaries, to scenic locations like Hodson Bay Hotel here you won't just find one of Irelands best and most relaxing hotels, you'll find great scenic views.

Athlone is a town packed with everything you need for that perfect get away to Ireland you've plenty of hotels and B&Bs to pick from lots of friendly Irish pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants all full of friendly people to meet. It's known as the heart of Ireland due to it being the primary town in Westmeath. It's a fantastic place to stop off if you're heading to Galway or Dublin. Lots think Galway is Irelands capital of the Midlands but no its actually "Athlone".

The main tourist office in Athlone is directly in the centre of town. Both the Castle and its museum you'll find open for tours along with a viking boat on the river Shannon, you'll find great tours packed with history all about the town.

The Castle nowadays contains pieces that belong to John Count McCormack and military uniforms dating from the 1600 to the present which are related to Athlone's military past as a garrison town. Athlone is packed with great history and wonderful things to explore.
