Australia is attempting to be progressive again

in #australia7 years ago

Australia has finally passed some sex marriage, something that should have been done years ago.

It was once that Australia was a progressive country where innovation and social change went hand in hand, where the shackles of colonial suffering and abuse was slowly being removed through the progressive stance taken by the politicians and wider nation.

Then, 2004 happened and a split occurred, where the nation continues to progress but politics and politicians seemed to turn themselves inwards and away from progress.

It was under the Howard LNP government in 2004 that marriage laws where changed in Australia, prior to 2004 anyone could be married legally in Australia. There was no clear definition of how could be married, it did not clearly state that a man and a woman could be married and no one else. But, this was changed and then we have had the circus of the past year, money has been wasted and the entire roll of Australia's government and politicians has been put into dispute. It is clear that they now lack the ability to govern.

What will happen from here? Hopefully change and plenty of it.

I never understand why "marriage" is defined as a union between and a man and woman... also, never understand why it is such a huge political issue when discussing about same sex marriage... Anyway, it is good news for Australia and humanity.

The funny thing is, prior to 2004 Australia did not define marriage as being between a man and a woman... so we were on board with it aince the 1960s
