Tasmanian wilderness

in #australia7 years ago

Tasmania is probably my favorite part of Australia. Since it's so far south and closer to Antarctica, the weather there is much cooler and rainier than continental Australia, even in the summer. I was very lucky to spend 8 days there and most of them were beautiful like this.

To experience Tasmanian remote wilderness, head over to Freycinet National Park on the eastern part of the island. Here you will find secluded bays, white sand beaches, dolphins, wallabies, rocks covered in red moss and abundant birdlife. This picture is of the remote Cooks Beach, accessible only on foot via a circular hiking route. Be prepared with water and supplies though as there is nothing around for hours.

The ocean is beautiful but ice cold! Went in only for about 5 min after a whole day of hiking as my feet were very sore and dying for some massage. It felt very...invigorating? Haha...possibly the coldest water I have ever been in.
