Does the date of Australia day matter?

in #australiaday7 years ago (edited)

With great respect to all aboriginal people who have been extremely disrespected and murdered and stolen and taken away from their heritage and culture and thrown into this crap western society. I dont think that date really matters, captain cook actually came here first in 1770 and was in botany bay in april. Whether its 26 jan or 28 april or any date at all means nothing to me. The English came and took this land for all time, not just one day. Now we all live here together. I feel that should be a national holiday celebrating aboriginal cultures. I would take part in that with joy.. 26 jan is just another public holiday to me, i don't like it, barbecues and beer don't have anything to do with the fricken first fleet, i call for a change in in the way we celebrate it, everyone should be put in chains and whipped to remind us that we are all slaves to this monetary system. And on aboriginal culture day we should spear corrupt people in power to remind them that they work for us not for their own interest.... . whatever date Australia day is on, its about the first fleet, the invasion, the starting of a new convict colony.images (2).jpg
