Toyota Corolla te27 Levin - 70's Japanese cool

in #autos6 years ago

I have noticed a bit too much Italian car's in my recent posts, so decided to visit the land of the rising sun and have a completely different subject matter.

From sweeping and wedge like supercars to the small 2 door sedan you see here.

This cool car from the seventies shows you don't need a massive engine to look good, it seems to be quite popular for customizing too.

I don't know enough Japanese to go find ad's from when the car was launched and see how it was marketed, but I can imagine they punted it as a sporty 2-door sedan, aimed at the younger crowd?

Bolt on arches seem to be quite popular in Japan, as most of the photo's I could find had these.

Event all black there is just enough chrome to keep the car visually interesting. Not many cars these days offer that, maybe that is part of the reason that people love altering these old cars? They just seem to respond really well to changes.

I am absolutely not sold on the white though. This looks like something a teacher would have driven way beck when.

This however looks much better, it has way more attitude and looks like it wants to be drifting right now!
