Seventy-one people killed in Russian passenger plane crash in Moscow province

A source familiar with the Russian emergency ministry said preliminary information indicates that there were no survivors in the disaster of the Russian passenger plane that crashed in the province of Moscow on Sunday, which was carrying 71 people.

Sources in the Russian Ministry of Emergencies previously confirmed that the plane "An-148" belonging to the lines "Saratov Air", which had 65 passengers and six crew members, crashed near the city of Ramenskoye on the outskirts of the Russian capital.

The contact with the crew of the plane, which was carrying out a flight from Moscow to the city of Orsk in the province of Orenburg (on the border with Kazakhstan), was interrupted minutes after taking off from the airport "Domodedovo" south of Moscow, before the plane disappears from radar screens.

Parts of the crashed plane were found on the outskirts of Ramenskoye, on the outskirts of Moscow.

The emergency ministry said more than 150 people and more than 20 were involved in dealing with the disaster.

A ministry official confirmed that one of the "black boxes" had been found at the crash site.

A source in the ministry said the accident was caused by bad weather or a mistake by the crew.

The authorities in the province of Orenburg confirmed that more than 60 passengers, belonging to the people of the province mentioned, adding that no information about the identity of the crew.

Russian President Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. Putin said the Russian government had set up a committee to investigate the disaster.

A spokeswoman for the Russian Commission of Inquiry reported that the head of the committee, Aleksandr Pastrykin, went to the crash site and confirmed that the investigators were looking into all the assumptions about the disaster.
