Ask 21 Soaring Technique in the alps
My guest @deleni gave me free hand to choose a flight. This gives me the opportunity to present one of the more than 700 FlightGear models. I just added a wind instrument to make the flight a bit easier for me. With the cable winch it goes at a height of 1200 meters and then we search for the up-winds at the mountains where the wind hits them. In between we make some aerobatics and also reach the glacier region around Zell am See at an altitude of 3000 meters. A very smooth landing finishes the flight.

Mein Gast @deleni hat mir freie Hand gegeben um einen Flug auszuwählen. Das gibt mir die Möglichkeit eines der über 700 Modelle von FlightGear vorzustellen. Ich habe nur schnell noch ein Windinstrument eingebaut um den Flug etwas einfacher für mich zu machen. Mit der Seilwinde geht es in 1200 Meter Höhe und dann beginnt die Suche nach den Aufwinden, die an der Windseite der Berge entstehen wenn der Wind auf sie trifft. Zwischendurch machen wir etwas Kunstflug und schaffen es auch in 3000 Metern Höhe in die Gletscherregion um Zell am See zu kommen. Eine Bilderbuchlandung beschließt den Flug.

Ja, genau, ich war jahrelang in Saalfelden auf dem Jazz-Festival, die Ecke ist echt nett, mit guter Gastronomie.

upvoted. How long can this plane maximum flight with only upwind?
Unlimited. You see that we gain altitude in a few minutes, and I had to push hard to get it down.
Nice video. It's fun to see the landscape and to remember the ski slopes there. I was not aware about the usage of the upwind.
I have set the wind to 15 kt from 45 degree, so that it worked fine, in real live it is a little bit more difficult, but it is so cool to have this feature implemented in the weather engine form FlightGear, and it is getting better and better. Thanks for watching!
Schöner Flug! Danke fürs Mitnehmen, es hat mich an meine Jugend erinnert. Mit 10 oder 11 durfte ich meine Flugtaufe in einem Segler machen. Das ist bis heute ein unvergessenes Erlebnis.

Yeah i like that one :) You heading towards North :D such a cool experience to fly while your narrating everything from the control TO the landing part :) i think you only need to do perfection in landing it was a great ride :D

First look says it is a drone. But I could understand it's a light weight aircraft. It reminds me something from our past war against terrorism. We called them as LTTE terrorist, who claim for an Ilam (A land for them). Killed thousands of innocents and country was in fire :/
But they were innovative. Used light weight air-crafts as bombard air-crafts. Actually that's something called as innovation! This video reminds me them. I like what they have done (I mean innovation) but I am proud to say, our soldiers could finish that sh!t!
