Ancient Oil Massage for Modern People Part 3 – Tongue Cleaning To Remove Toxins
Sleep is one of the great gifts to life. After a hard days work we are able to sleep and get rejuvenated by the next morning, Many processes take place during sleep for this rejuvenation to take place including the removal of waste and toxins.
One way the removal of toxins takes place is through the tongue and this is one of the reasons why the tongue may have a whitish coating in the mornings. This layer may consist of things such as bacteria, fungus, food particles and waste. In some instances, illnesses can cause the tongue to be whitish or yellowish, which would be a medical issue and not covered in this article.
The deep cleaning of the tongue is traditionally done with a metal tongue scraper. I have a sterling silver tongue scraper but there are others made from copper, stainless steel and other materials and are usually horse shoe shaped. These are are generally more effective in cleaning the tongue than regular brushing.
METHOD
Hold the two ends with either hand as in the illustration. Extend the tongue as far as possible and put the rounded end of the tongue scraper on the tongue as far back into the throat as possible. Pull it forward the full length of the tongue. Rinse the tongue scraper and repeat a few times.
Tongue scraping can be done after regular brushing etc. and before the oil gargle or oil pulling.
When finished wash and dry the tongue scraper and store it in a clean dry place or container.
