Engine High Oil Temperature
Thrust lever (affected engine) Retard slowly
Decreasing thrust may lower oil temperature by reducing the amount of heat generated by the engine. However, increasing thrust may also lower the oil temperature by increasing fuel flow through the oil cooler.
When oil temperature is in the yellow band, consider climbing to a higher altitude (performance permitting) to obtain a lower inlet air temperature. However, if flying near or in the stratosphere, first query other flight crewsat higher levels about the actual OAT.
If the engine is operated at reduced thrust to remain below the yellow band, the NNC [Engine Failure or Shutdown] and the NNC [One Engine Inoperative Landing] can be used as a guideline to continue flight.
Max. Engine oil temperature (155 degrees C)
Operate for max. 45 min in yellow band
Max. Continuous engine oil temperature (140 degrees C)
