More New Babies

in #babies7 years ago (edited)

Here is our next set of new babies, sugar had her twins yesterday morning.

The white one is our boy the brown one is a girl.

All of our girls are looking the same we’re going to have to buy colour-coded  collars for each of them so we can tell them all apart.

Here is Venus she is the next mama to have a babe or two.  She carries very different than the other goats.  Usually we can't tell she is pregnant until she is almost ready to kid out.  We are not sure when she will kid out but I suspect it will be within a month or so.

A picture of King the dad to all of these beautiful babies.  He is taking a rest before breakfast. In the background I can see one of the ducks under the feeder.  I will have to go and see if she is sitting on some eggs.  Who knows maybe we will have more ducklings this year.

And as for the chaos, those that read @wwf‘s blog know we had the risk of a grass fire close to our place.  Here’s some pictures of the end result.

In this photo there are a couple of places that are still smoking this morning.  This is the trees at the neighbours place.

So I decided that this is "anything can happen year".  Now that we have gotten the possible floods and possible fire out of the way now maybe we can have some relaxation and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Sort:

What type of goats are those?

The mama's are Sannan /Nubian cross and the male is Alpine.

Love these little sweeties! Love the idea of using color coded collars. I certainly could never keep them straight! Signs of spring, new life! Yay!

It is hard to keep track of them when they all look alike. I didn't color code the last years babies and I still don 't have them straight.

Thanks for stopping in.

wow these newborns look so beautiful especially that white one looks so cute.

It should be a joyful day for you and @wwf that all your efforts of these animal husbandry has paid off in the form of those cute babies and the family has grown bigger now!!

We never had goats although we had cows and buffaloes, so, these posts about goats makes me interested in reading more about goats.

Thanks a ton for those wonderful photos and the blog. :)

Thank you. It is wonderful to have the babies. It is good to see a white baby.

Those are large animals you had. They take lots of fed and water. Goats are easier because they are smaller and then they take less food and water.

Yeah, the white one stands out and it's so beautiful.

That's right, maintaining goats will be easier compared to cows and buffaloes. I am really thankful for the new way of converting the crypto you both mentioned. Let's hope the crypto currencies goes up in some time, so that, I can sought your help in conversion :).

Have a good day

We are happy to help. Rob chats with people regularly about how to get steem converted. We talk with people over discord to help them. That way there is no extra fees to make a long distance call.

Many people are saying that the crypto currencies are going to go up soon. I sure hope so. There would be so many people that would benefit from it.

Thank you, you guys are so kind enough. Appreciate your openness to help others.

I have even referred you both to one of the lady from UK who is having health issue and is looking for converting some of the Steem to Dollars or UK Pounds. Charges saved will be a huge bonus as for as conversion is concerned.

Right now, Steem is going down, but yes, there are positive responses with regards to crypto-currencies, Lets's hope for the best.

Thanks for everything :)

Yes we would be very willing to help. I sure hope she is ok. When we want our steem converted to canadian dollars we go through a guy in the UK. So it would work out well for her.

Yes many people are hopeful that steem will go up. We will see.

Enjoy your day.

They are beautiful babies, everyone! Colour coding is a really good idea until they develop their own personalities.

Yes I think it will work. I have also put name tags on them one year. We had many people coming out for tours and so it made it easier to tell them which goat was which.

They really do develop their own personalities. It is so much fun to watch them. I will often tell people they can come out for baby therapy.

Having a baby kid in your arms is so therapeutic! How can you be stressed out when you have a cute cuddly animal in your arms?

Yup so true. That also works with a human baby. All your problems melt away. I think it keeps us young as well.

Are you able to get some baby therapy these days? Not sure if the children on your land are infants or not. If not I sure hope the children are bringing you some joy in all the chaos.

There are two infants here now and another one will be born around mid-June. The children have been really good. They play soccer with us, tag with the dogs, look for the turtles in the garden, watch the hummingbirds, are helpers in the garden and every night after dinner and before bed, we have story time for the younger ones and board games with the older ones. We don't have too much time to feel stressed during the day. It's at night, after the lights go out that we have time to reflect on what is happening.

That is so great that you are able to spend that kind of time with them. It sounds wonderful, at least during the play time. I am sure the children will remember these times, the good parts as well.

At least you are safe. We are all praying for you here. My mom is new to steemit and she thinks of you quite a bit. You and your situation has helped bring up conversations with her about what we would do. Rob and I have talked about these things many time but she is really not prepared for something like what you are going through. It is helping her expand her thoughts. I thank you for writing the updates. It is helpful for us and I am sure others are reflecting on it as well.

Take care

Thank you, Carey. We have always, as a family, have tried to be prepared for whatever may come our way, be it blizzards, financial hard times, illness or even death of a loved one but nothing compares to preparing for war. Everything you have learned, everything you have come to expect goes out the window. In cases of natural disasters, people tend to group together. In war, there is a lot of distrust, envy, greed, hatred and violence added to the mix.

Talking with your family ahead of these things, planning and exercising caution is an excellent idea. As a family, we have been talking about these very things for the past two years. We have seen the writing on the walls. When we were building the walls, we had twenty workers here. Many were young fellows that had never had a job before. They had the opportunity to learn a trade here. As well, every day we gave classes on how to budget their money and save for the future. Some took it to heart, others had money for the first tie in their lives and partied hardy. If they had been drinking, they were not allowed to work as they posed a safety hazard to others.

It is really gratifying to know that a few of these men took what they were being taught and have done well. 6 have built homes. 3 have started micro businesses on the side.

I will be doing another post today about what transpired yesterday. We keep hoping and praying for a resolution. But I still think there are third parties here in the mix that wish other wise.

That is so great that you helped out others and taught the young fellows. That is truly what we are her for, to help and teach. It is so great that
some of them took the knowledge and used it for something good. May I ask, how high is the wall you built?

Yes I imagine it is hard to prepare for something like war. It is hard to know what will happen next. At least with a natural disaster you can plan and work through the situations. In a time of war it is so unpredictable. So many things can happen. Also with war it lasts much longer than a natural disaster. As for the third party that possibly has an agenda, you might be right about that. It is so hard to tell what is truly happening in our world today. Unless we can hear it from people like you. The news prints what they want or totally ignore the subject.

more gorgeous babies! <3 I colour code the puppies when we have a litter so I can keep an eye on their weights and make sure they are getting enough milk etc. It is a good system :) I didn't know about the fire, I have so much reading to catch up on! I am glad you are all safe. much love to you all x

Good to know color coding will work. I have never tried it before. I never though of using it to check weights and make sure each one is getting enough. Smart thinking.

We have been having a hard time keeping up with all the reading as well. I think it is a spring thing. I know many people are really busy right now.

Yes the fire was a close call but a good eye opener for us. I am glad it happened, it is giving us an opportunity to talk about how we would handle a situation like that in the future. Thanks for your love.
Hope you all are well. Hugs

Excellent article. I learned a lot of interesting and cognitive. I'm screwed up with you, I'll be glad to reciprocal subscription))
