Helping Teething Troubles
Teething babies are no fun! As a mom of a number of children I have had lots of experience with teething children. As they start to cut their first teeth, many babies will experience a myriad of symptoms that will make them range from minor discomfort to extreme discomfort. A slight fever, extra drool, irritability, swollen gums, and even not wanting to eat are all symptoms that your baby is starting to cut their first teeth. No two babies are alike and each one can experience a slightly different set of symptoms. No matter the symptoms, we all share the same feelings. We want our babies to feel better and to take away their pain!
Chamomile
Babies have been teething since the beginning of time and one of the oldest known remedies for teething discomfort is Chamomile.
Chamomile is sometimes called an “herbal aspirin” since it’s been a popular home remedy for lowering pain for centuries. Chamomile flowers have been used to reduce pain, congestion, swelling and redness. They are extremely effective at reducing facial swelling, skin irritations, toothaches, pain from infections and underlying issues of inflammation.
Lavender
The most famous essential oil for pain relief and relaxation is lavender (L. angustifolia) Distilled from the flowering tops, the best medicinal lavender oil comes from Bulgaria though it can be grown all over the world. Lavender has a long list of applications for skin; because of its anti-inflammatory and cell regenerating properties. It is a safe herb for even the youngest children making it an excellent choice for teething.
