Hi friend steemit .. This time I will peel some places my sister trips Thailand bowl and one of them at Wat pho. And also there are some tips when we want to travel to wat pho.

Wat Pho - Bangkok, Thailand

Wat Pho (Wat Phra Chetuphon) is the oldest temple in Bangkok and is known as the Buddhist Temple of Lying for the largest lying Buddha and is known for its famous Thai massage school.

How to get to Wat Pho

Wat Pho is located on Rattanakosin Island just south of the Grand Palace and right next to Wat Arun makes the trip there worth your time to go to the temple.
Address: 2 Sanamchai Road, Grand Palace Subdistrict, Pranakorn District, Bangkok 10200, Thailand

there are many ways to reach this historic temple. One of the most popular ways is by fast boat to Tha Tien (N8) along Chao Phraya. If you want to save money, you can take a bus (1, 3, 25,44,48,91,503,508, and 512) which all stop near Wat Pho.

if you are good at bidding or want to split costs with groups, then feel free to take a taxi or Tuk Tuk, make sure you are not robbed!

Price Wat Pho

The entrance fee for admission is now 200 baht but that includes everything to see inside the temple beside the massage school. if you want to enjoy traditional Thai massage from 260-420 baht for 30 minutes to an hour of massage.

Where to stay

Anywhere in central Bangkok or near Khao San Road is ideal. I stayed at NapPark Hostel located in downtown Bangkok with only 2 blocks away from Khao San Road and close to many tourist attractions including Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

When to visit Wat Pho

the temple is open from 08:00 to 17:00 and it is advisable to leave early in the morning or to the closing if you want to go when less crowded. The average time people spend there is about 1-1.5 hours to get through the whole area.

What to do there

there is much to see and do at the temple. There are 99 chedis of all sizes covered with colorful and bright tiles. There are many scenery to be seen throughout the temple including the temple hall, main temple, and many Buddhist sightings.

the main attraction is visiting the largest Buddha lined with gold. You can also get a famous Thai massage there and if you have an interest in learning they also teach Thai massage lessons at their school.

Tips

beware of false guides who will overload you to take you to temples and too expensive transportation that will offer to take you but ultimately direct you to another place.

also beware of a scammer who claims to be a member of staff and will tell you that the temple is closed and instead offer to take you to another temple with crazy prices.

Dress code is very important. you should be covered for the most meaningful part of no shorts, tank tops, or clothes that show bare skin.

Men and women are encouraged to wear long trousers and long sleeves especially when entering into the Lying Buddha building or one of the chapels.

scarves available for wear and shoes should be removed before entering. This applies to most temples in Thailand.

Why does Wat Pho have to be on my basket list?

wat Pho is one of the oldest temples in Bangkok even older than the city itself enriched with beautiful architectural statues, chedis and paintings where you can get a Thai massage from the original birthplace of traditional Thai massage. this is a fabulous historical site that contains the largest lying Buddha statue of gold and must see in Bangkok!
