A Grateful Day in KL, Malaysia

in #backpacking7 years ago (edited)

I was wandering around an unfamiliar place with no fixed itinerary in mind. As I was walking, I got fascinated with unused yet colorful train, actually its color reminded me of Christmas, with blue-red-green combination. I was figuring out how to get there and wanted to take a pix of it. Suddenly, a stranger wearing a formal suit with a suitcase approached me. He asked me where I was going, so I told him my intention. He suggested me to go with him so I could enter for free and saved few bucks for my fare. It may sound like a scam but I didn’t know why I immediately followed him.

As we were walking along a calm & quiet station, he recommended me some tourist spots nearby, he also observed that I'm a Filipino and thought I were still a student, so he was worried about me roaming alone. 😜😂 I told him that it wasn’t my first time backpacking alone and my real age. (btw, i was almost 30 y/o when I met him, just 2 days before my birthday)

When we reached the exit of the station, I was surprised how the employees treated him, he even instructed the guard to let me pass once I get back to the station by myself. Eventually, he showed me his ID and told me his job position. I appreciated his hospitality toward me. I was so grateful that God led me to the right person on my first day in KL.

Reminiscing from what I did, It sounded like a reckless move for a lone woman to go with a guy for the first time. But, one thing that I really love about solo traveling is that it always reminds me how great our God is and how weak am I without Him. It makes me more reliant throughout the journey with bountiful joy & awe of Him.

Good posting and good adventure as backpaper ! :)

Thanks! Indeed, it was one of a kind experience. :)

Nice post Nyx! Post your blogs on the group for everyone to notice :D

Thanks Jan! :)

NIce post, can you tell me about last photos ?

Thanks! Btw, the last two photos are just in the same premises. It's the facade of KTM Berhdad , which is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. The station is notable for its architecture, adopting a mixture of Eastern and Western designs. Fortunately, I met a very generous stranger who happened to be the head consultant. :)

It was a reckless move indeed but , god is good! Will be waiting to hear more of your travels! :)
