Me to We Bake Sale 2017
Me to We is a large known organization that raises money to help poor countries. It has many students and kids around the world helping them too, and rewarding them with an annual event called We day.
On the Thursday before March Break, our school's Me to We Club organized a Bake Sale to take place in the gym. All the money raised would go to Haiti to build a new school, after Hurricane Matthew stormed in. The bake sale ran during the whole school period, and students could come volunteer with their teacher's permission. In order for everyone to be able to buy a treat, the maximum amount of money you could bring was two dollars, but treats were sold for either fifty cents or a dollar each. There were treats from slices of cake to the famous Turkish treat, Baklava. Lots of other treats were planned to be brought, so they set the tables in a line and arranged it so that it would be easy to walk around several times before purchasing their choice of food.
The children were also allowed to eat their treat in the gym, so the school custodian had to come to the gym several times to clean up the floor, and the volunteers helped by cleaning the tables and seats. All the classes could come and stop by with their money to buy something, even the little kids. What was funny was that the kindergartens would follow the teacher and some of the kids would buy what the teacher would buy. The older kids would see what they would want and also decide if the price was worth it. Some large cookies were fifty cents so at the end, it was sold out. But even the small brownies were sold out, and one was for fifty cents too.
At 2:55, five minutes before students left for home, the Me to We club members could pick up their food they donated, if there were left overs. At the end, they counted the amount of money raised. They raised over 900 dollars! They called the bake sale a huge success, but cleaning up the gym was the hard part!
