13 Awesome Things Parents Can Buy For Their Kids at the Dollar Tree

in #bargains7 years ago (edited)

According to Wikipedia, there are 13,600 Dollar Trees in the USA and Canada, so if you live in one of these two countries, chances are there is one near you. I came up with a list of the best things a parent can buy for their kids at the Dollar Tree. Some products are fun, some are practical. So check it out! Buying these items may enhance your life and save you money. In most cases, you'll pay at least twice as much anywhere else. 😊 dollar-tree.jpg

Rocket balloons!!! One of my absolute favorites!! If your child has never tried rocket balloons before, head down to the Dollar tree and get some. You may have a better chance of finding them in the summer time. The package comes with 5 balloons that soar away and spin high into the air. Below is a video of my daughter letting one fly:

My kids had an absolute blast with these, and that much fun for a dollar? Priceless!!

Nail polish for you, stick on Disney princess nails for your daughter! In fact, for under $10 you could have a manicure/pedicure party. The store carries not just nail polish and stick on nails, but pretty files, toe separators, clippers, nail polish remover, ect.

Band-aids! Anytime someone scratches or cuts themselves, they get a band-aid. Here you can get a pack of 80. We also found this nifty pack of emoji bandages for the emoji lover in the family. Truth be told there is a lot of variety at the Dollar Tree when it comes to band-aids.

You'll have to forgive these pictures, I just snapped photos of these things around the house. XD

USB cords and ports! There once was a day when USB ports were in short supply around here. Then I found some at the Dollar Tree! The cheapest ones at Walmart are around $7. Now we have enough to go around. As for the cords, the kids have a way of wrecking them when they have them plugged in as they play on their phone or tablet. It's nice to get them at the Dollar Tree, you can't get them cheaper elsewhere. The store has a variety of different smartphone accessories.

Playdough! Well, generic playdough. A tub of real playdough is 2/$1 at our Walmart, and a package of 4 tubs from the Dollar Tree is, of course, $1. It smells nice and is of good quality. My 6 year old daughter loves it!! It has a softness to it that playdough doesn't have. You can also get a bag of fun little molds and cut-outs. :)

Kids toothbrushes! A pack of 4 or 5 for a dollar. You really can't beat that price.

Shaving cream!
Shaving cream? For kids??
Have you ever made fluffy slime? It's fun! You should try it!! It's so easy and your kids will love it.

Here's how to do it: Mix together 1 cup of white school glue and 1/4 cup of water. Add a few drops of food coloring, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1-2 cups of shaving cream and around 1/4 cup of contact solution. Stir it up until you can't anymore as it will thicken, then knead it with your hands...if it's too sticky add a little more contact solution. That's it!! This day we didn't use food coloring... Snack bags! If you pack a snack or lunch for school, you may be interested in their sandwich and snack bags. I've seen different themes too: Spiderman, Disney princess, and Minnie mouse. You usually get between 35-50, depending on the product.

Hair bands! These tend to go missing around my house, but this pack of 36 lasts a long time. There are pastel and bold colors, and anywhere else you'll likely pay almost 3X as much.

Coloring books and workbooks! There are coloring books of all kinds and workbooks for all ages. I purchased this spelling workbook for my 3rd grader today.

White Rain Kids 3-in-1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash! It's dye and paraben free, tear free, and made in the USA. This is one item that is more expensive than Walmart...by 2¢, but if you're there getting everything else on this list, you may as well just grab it. ;)

Arts and craft supplies! We've bought kits such as suncatchers with paint, princess origami, mini model planes, trucks, and boats, cross-stitch, paint by number and more. Not to mention miscellaneous craft items like sequins, glitter, googly eyes, popsicle sticks, ect. C360_2017_11_04_07_55_59_740

Dry erase boards and markers! If your little one is responsible with markers, he or she can be a little artist without wasting a bunch of paper. It's great for car rides too!!

There's a 14th item that isn't for kids, but I wanted to share it! I found this body wash that is paraben and dye free. For a dollar. It's made in Canada and comes in lavender too. I just love it!!

My wife and I just left Texas and we visited the local Dollar Tree several times. Mostly we were there to buy candy for Halloween, reading glasses and a few other odds & ends. I even got the ingredients to make my own unique trail mix. Of all the "Dollar" stores, the Dollar Tree is our favorite.

Mine too. Really the list could go on and on. :)

Interesting @snowpea.. I am very impressed with your writing. Hopefully I can have a son.

Oh the fondness I have for dollar tree treasures. I'm going to be looking for emoji bandaids now. @ironshield

That's great!! Thanks for reading! :)

They always have cool things at the dollar tree store. Thanks for your post. 🐓🐓
