Yesterday I posted about my family adventure. As I was staring at the sprawling landscape in front of me I was thinking of an appropriate beer for the mood. Something that has to do with the mountains! An obvious choice presented itself!

‘Velebitsko’ is named after Velebit, a mountain range in central Croatia. They make it in a small city there and boast with water purity they use. I think it’s more important what, and how, they put stuff in the water though. But enough with the mean remarks.

Across the crumbling fortress there is a nice mountain lodge, but really a restaurant. There is a big celebration here on the first of May, the Labour Day in Croatia.

Style	Premium Lager

Appearance	Deep gold. Healthy sparkles. Fizzy. Decent head. What you’d expect of lager. Classic label, tends to appeal to nationalistic pathos.
Aroma	Bitter malts. It does smell really fresh, just like they advertise and boast with water purity.
Taste	Feels a bit more bitter than most macro lagers. Roasted taste. Not bad. Like burnt bread crust aftertaste.
Palate	Gentle and comfortable. Medium carbonation and a bit above watery.

Overall	Much better than more popular macro brands but still nothing out of the ordinary. If you stick to the well trodden paths and like classic styles this might be a good match for you.
Score (subjective, personal)	13/20

Price: 16 kuna (2.60$) for 0.5 l. Bottle. Budget, but I’ve seen cheaper. At a restaurant.
