RE: Beer Saturday - return to The Swan

in #beersaturday5 years ago

When pubs are disappearing so fast it's a shame to see them go downhill. A lot seem to be trying to go 'upmarket' with fancy food, but a lot of people just want basic good grub. I used to drink ESB bottles that I enjoyed, but rarely drink at home these days. London Pride is usually a good bet when the options are limited.

This post was a bit of a rant, I know, and the fault is in 'profit before all else', globalisation, and various other things, but it's still a damn shame what fuller's have done to this pub in the last ten years.
Still, the beer was the best it's been in all those years so that's something. ANd yes, a good pint off London Pride is to be treasured.

I was in a local pub for our open mic on Friday and they had a good crowd in. Some of the others seem to struggle to get many customers. You have to wonder how they get by. The one we used to play in is going more for serving food now which may be more profitable.
