Bella Ramsey rejects suitors in Catherine named Birdie trailer
If you loved Bella Ramsey's Game of Thrones performance as Lyanna Mormont and felt she could take the lead as a no-nonsense character, here's what Lena Dunham has to say about her new movie, the comedy-drama Catherine Byrdie. Watch the first trailer...
- In the medieval village of Stonebridge, Lady Catherine (better known as Birdie) was the youngest of Lord Rollo and Lady Aseline. His stadium is Stonebridge Manor, a home that, like family, has seen better days. Financially destitute and extremely greedy Rollo sees his daughter as a way out of financial ruin by marrying a wealthy man for money and land.
But Byrdie, like a big teen hero, is sharp, smart, and adventurous - and ready to take on the right person who comes along to boost creativity. Her imagination, defiance, and deep belief in her right to independence led her to confront her parents. When the most disgusting suitor arrives, they face the ultimate test of their daughter's love.
Dunham adapted the story from Karen Cushman's novel, and the original content suits the girl's creator. The film's cast also includes Leslie Sharpe, Sophie Okonedo, Joe Alwyn, Dean Charles Chapman, Paul Kay, Billy Piper, and Andrew Scott.
