Two years ago in January, I caught the premiere of Leos Janacek's Vec Makropulos, known in English as The Makropulos Case, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin starring the indescribable, invigorating, and exhilarating Wagnerian soprano, Madame Evelyn Herlitzius, as the tragically eternal anti-heroine, Emilia Marty.
