Development update and community guidelines. January 29th.

in #bescouted7 years ago

After securing an investment round from a private investor we are excited to announce that the first team members started working on BeScouted code as of yesterday. We have been a long bootstrapped project so now things will start to move faster to build the biggest photography community in the world that rewards users for sharing original content with our own SMT as a cherry on top. So huge thanks to all BeScouted and Steemit community members who made this possible and for your support.

Posting Improvement.

First things first and function before the form. Prior to implementation of various UI/UX changes and adding new features our main task is to make sure that all posts get recorded to Steem blockchain and all upvotes reach their destination. It is either us that do not understand Steemit API fully or the API itself is not that perfect but sometimes posts from BeScouted are not included into blocks hence are not eligible to rewards. We know how frustrating it is and we made this our top priority that has to be fixed possibly by posting/reading directly to/from Steem blockchain. Thank you all for your patience while we are working on it.

If anybody could advice on this and would like to become a part of BeScouted team, you can always contact @bescouted on Steemit Chat or reach us on our telegram channel: BeScouted.

Verification.

Our next task is adding additional levels of verification for new members to prevent accounts created by bots which disrupted our popular Photo Of The Day contest where top five photos selected by the community members get a full upvote from @bescouted.com This will also allow us to minimize identity theft and hence it is in the list of our top priorities.

Content Moderation and Curation.

Nobody ever reads Terms and Conditions, neither do i personally, but we moderate our content. We want BeScouted to become the platform that works to our members benefit and community of most talented artists and aspiring new talents.

We will keep removing photos that clearly lack quality and/or effort. You do not need professional grade gear to make a nice photo as it is photographer that makes a picture not the equipment. We understand that we all start from zero, but you can clearly tell where effort to tell something with the help of a photo has been made and where it's just messy careless snap with the intention to get some quick rewards. Latter will be removed with the corresponding label and if it continues to appear on the website we are sorry but that account will be terminated. We respect our community members and want them to interact in a professional and pleasant environment.

Tagging photos with NSFW tag: do not tag photos that are safe for browsing and do not include mature content or nudity with the nsfw tag. In most cases such tag will be simply removed, in some cases image itself might be deleted. Always check nsfw checkbox if photo contains mature content and/or nudity. Failure to do so most probably will also result in removal of such an image. Please respect the others.

Identity and Content Thieves and Plagiators.

THIS IS WAR!!!

We will never ever tolerate content and identity thieves. Will will wage our holy war against them and better do not even try. At least out of respect to yourself. And while occasionaly one might slip a stolen photo or two, we will eventually track it down and the best case scenario that account will be deleted without a warning. In more severe cases it will be reported to @steemcleaners - people that have our utmost respect for the incredible work that they do and such accounts will be down voted to the oblivion.

We understand that there are certain parts of the world where it is worth of risk, and it may be a substantial source of income, but... we can not approve taking rewards from the pool and giving them to crooks. You better invest some time, learn, practice, build a substantial blog with high reputation and your rewards will be tenfold. Seriously. We will delete all accounts with the suspicion of theft.

Damn It That Sounds Scary:)

I hate to write such lines as above, but it must be made very clear. We want honest, talented, creative people on BeScouted to make it the best environment for many forms of visual arts and people behind it to work, cooperate, share, learn and earn from their hard and important work. Once again we are very thank full to those who are with us already and we invite everybody to join. Soon new features will be added, and functionality improved further and your input, comments, advice and wishes are always welcome. We want to build a tool that you'd love to use daily, that would help you to supplement your income and help you in your growth and development.

We want your talent to BeDiscovered and we want you to BeScouted as an artist.

If you are in any relation with photography, or have amazing images of your work to share, visit BeScouted and see if you like what we are doing. You can upload your photos on BeScouted and they will also appear on your Steemit blog! You can curate content there and receive all curation rewards.

Very exciting news man! I know I haven't been super active on bescouted lately but I assure you I am still following closely, and even lurk on all the amazing work there quite often. I was going to ask a question: Would it be possible to add a feature where we could post photos but not have them cross post to Steemit page? I have a lot of photos that I would love to put up on Bescouted but not necessarily flood my Steemit page, also a lot of photos I have previously posted on Steemit that I would like to put on Bescouted but not double post on Steemit. Just a thought, not sure if it has been suggested or thought of before.

Hi, Dexter, you have to be active only when you feel like it, there is no any obligation to upload though we are always happy to see your artistic work. Even though the main purpose of adding Steem rewards functionality was to reward BeScouted members with Steem we are aware that platform serves other multiple purposes too like casting and and showcase of portfolio hence we will be adding such an option so as veteran Steemit users that have uploaded most of their work to Steemit can choose if they want it to be cross posted to Steemit. As another temporary solution we can suggest disconnecting Steemit account from BeScouted in the settings and uploading as much work as you'd like without double posting it on the Steemit platform and then connecting it back when you wish. Hope this helps, cheers!

Awesome! What a great idea. I have a few photographer friends who I'll certainly share your platform with, especially as I rather have them support your endeavors than Kodak's.

It has to be mutual, we are trying to build the best tools to work and reward authors, but it means nothing without the support of the community of artists itself!

What a great support! Not only for photographers, but also for models

And makeup artists, and hair/wardrobe stylists, designers, actors, retouchers, individual artists, brands and companies and more. For all talented people in visual industry!

congratulations. love the support for photogs.

This are all great news for the photography community in general. Thank You so much for all the efforts You guys are making to make it happen even faster now. But to be honest I think You guys have been doing great even before this new stage You are entering :D

Congratulations for that :D keep being amazing :D

There is no limit for perfection but thanks Sergio!

Yeah i guess i know what you mean with that. I agree. :)

That's good, it makes advances so that photographers feel more secure @bescouted.com

I am very glad that the project is developing. I look forward to all the innovations. And recently, the activity of users has fallen, and the quality of the published material has decreased. Although there are certainly talented works and I try not to miss them, but unfortunately I can not promote more than 10 because the vote power is not regulated.

Quantity of the published photos has increased x8 since we have started and is growing in volume, that is why it may look like the quality is going down since many new amateur photographers joined it. But everybody starts somewhere. Before Steem BeScouted was a closed community of top talent now it is open to everybody. We have also been fighting identity thieves with stolen images and removing accounts of those who were not able to confirm their identity and will continue to do that.

It's good that the photographers and models can count on you, hoping they can continue working and achieve everything you want @bescouted.com

Very good support to photographers, I think they do a great job I like photography but I do not even have a phone to take them because they stole me @bescouted.com
