Unexpected side effect of Steemit

in #bescouted7 years ago

As a photographer on Steemit I've often found myself looking through my shoot archives to find good content I think the folks of Steemit might like. In doing so I've stumbled across so many shoots that for one reason or another had slipped my mind. It's not that I forgot about them, more that they might have been shot for a particular purpose or that I got great use from them at the time so have had no reason to look back at them in a while. Basically Steemit is helping me rediscover some hidden gems in my portfolio.

This is prime example. An online publication I used to shoot for were producing a superhero themed calendar for charity and asked if I'd shoot one of the months. The brief was pretty simple, 5 models all dressed up in a superhero styled outfits and some epic lighting. That sounded good to me, so this what we got. It was a really fun shoot and all the girls looked amazing. I think the patrons of the rock bar we used in Dublin were quite happy to see them too, of course it was only right we stayed for a few drinks afterwards. Its thirsty work sometimes!

I know I could have gone through my shoot archives at any stage, even without Steemit. I'm just not sure I would have, so thank you Steemit for helping me rediscover some shots I love, and reliving some great memories.

Have any of you discovered any unexpected side effects from posting on Steemit?

Class shot! Was that Fibbers?

Well spotted. Its a fun place to shoot. The grime adds character ;)

It's even true for my case. I 'd forgotten about places I visited years ago and going through my photos for a post I found them. Steemit really does that!

Yep definitely. It's a really nice way of jogging the memory.

Thats good thing about steem, to be honest before I got here I was posting all my top stuff then after sometime I delete it, this is how I've grown my portfolio, my old shots it's part of my learning path, and this is why I want to share them here, just so anyone who starts with camera knows how much we as a photographers have to take pictures to become at least decent in what we do. Also is interesting to see images from the past to see how much we change as a photographers. I bet if you shoot this one more time you would take different approach

Oh completely. It's always intwresting to see how we progress through the years. Yep safe bet I'd shoot it very differently if I shot it these days.

Same here, searching through one's photo album gets meaningful again 😋

It really does. Plus theres the added incentive to rework old shots with newer techniques we've picked up.

It's true. Although my work is quite different. Steemit has given me the great push to revisit 20+ years of work photographs. Its great to be able to catalogue them on the blockchain and not just have them sitting in boxes and harddrives.

Yep totally, no matter what the style its a great motivator to revisit past work. Sometimes even if I don't post anything, I'm still enjoying finding past shoots that I hadn't thought about in years.

Thanks guys :)

I have also discovered this one too. I have even redone editing of some old raw files after some years and it was interesring to see how it is different from what i have picked up in years. It is understandable as posting and sharing now gives another layer of motivation i.e. the incentive mechanism of the rewards. And great shot by the way as usual. You are a talented photographer that has put ir a lot of heart and hours. How come i have not seen anh of your work on bescouted.com?. You could have some good tips on improvement as a pro.

Cheers dude, I'll actually upload some work there this evening when I get home :)
