June 3 Radical Abandon

"Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'" 1 Peter 1:15-16

If we're honest with ourselves, deep down we don't think becoming like Jesus is going to benefit us where we live today. But we're absolutely wrong, there is huge blessing for those who will single-mindedly pursue the righteousness of God that is found in Christ. We are offered riches in abundance but we hang on to our sinful natures like our only security is found there. It's pitiful but often the posture of human flesh when threatened by a holy calling. In faith, abandon sinfulness and strive for holiness. Just for fun, open the Bible and try to find a biblical figure that was all-out faithful to God but WASN'T blessed. Be encouraged by what you discover.
