Topic: Loved But Lost (II)
Read: 2 Samuel 12:1-9
Memorise:-
So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die.” (2 Samuel 12:13).
Exposition:-
Someone said. “When you flee temptation, be sure you don’t leave a forwarding address.” That cowardice is the surest among several good protections against temptation. Stop giving the devil a foothold to lure you into sin. A man once confessed: “Imagine while my wife and I were shopping at a mall, a shapely young woman in a short, form-fitting dress strolled by. My eyes followed her. Without looking up from the item she was examining, my wife asked, ‘Was it worth the trouble you ‘re in?’” Funny but full of warming!
Undeniably, Satan seldom comes to a Christian with a gloss temptation. Usually, it is just a little lust, a little indulgence, a little ‘it doesn’t matter… God understands we are human… I can’t help it.’ Don’t forget that a green long log and a candle may be safely left together, but a few shavings, and some small sticks with a little spark of fire, the green log may be brought to ashes. The same is sin among the privileged, the enthroned, the elites, the powerful, the wealthy, the positioned and the influentials, who have turned our world into a den of hate, revenge, wars, and chaos.
Today, we read that the beloved David was lost in sin, but God offered him a chance to stop sinning. When confronted by your conscience over your wrongdoing, evil of ungodliness, do not pretend, or put up unnecessary defence. Stop being overly wise in excuses, whenever the Holy Spirit and the Word of God point out your misconduct or transgression. Stop abusing the advantages you have over others. Start being a blessing, using your exalted position to lift others rather than reducing them to nothing (Lk. 19:8).
Prayer Points:-

  1. Today, I refrain from all my excuses. Make me perfect in You, oh Lord.
  2. I will not abuse Your grace anymore; help me Mighty Saviour.
  3. Lord Jesus, help every of our religious and political leaders to start using their positions and privileges for the good of others, and the glory of Your holy name.
