RE: Are Bid Bots The Only Way?
That's an interesting one. Burning your bid, as it's only 'promotion', and sounds good for starters.
I wonder what the max people would be willing to set alight to top that page? First thoughts are not much, and also the big numbers that presumably Steemit inc like to show the world would reduce.
Sadly I don't think they'll die, fewer sends means more profit for those that do - who will not care about promotion. The bid-bot dark web fueled by owner/delegator bids was my guess a few months ago.
Except that now you can freely downvote the abuse, they wouldn't have any lie to hide behind such as trying to get seen!
We can, either by ourselves or using this new bot that I've forgotten the name of. However, the flags from us are small in comparison, and the whales who used to police are sold out
Baah! I'm over it, for today at least.
What I meant was that in the future if the promoted tab is homepage vote selling and vote buying won't be as profitable since people can downvote it as abuse, without any questions, as self-vote abuse should be downvoted.
I'm not sure how changing the page would then make it more reasonable to downvote as abuse? It's getting late here though and my brain is frazzled.
As far as self-voting abuse, since the top earner on Steemit is doing it(and no-one can stop him), many of the accounts that could, by working together, have opted to do the same - via alts. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Since they cannot claim to do it for promotion since promotion is clearly the home page which will give plenty of exposure to anyone seeking it, while those that are cheating the system can be dealt with more openly by downvoting as it's blatant at that point, no more thin veneer of respectability to cover the rot of self-voting/vote-buying.
