RE: Bike Sharing’s Contribution to Singapore’s Future

in #bike-share7 years ago

Really fascinating stuff @jerald - I myself am a bicycle commuter and have been for the better part of my life almost everywhere that I've lived: San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver, Atlanta, and now Los Angeles. The amount of people who are surprised here in LA that I commute by bike compared to all the other cities is hilarious - they just can't comprehend not using a car!

Bike sharing initiatives are starting to pop up around here but it's a slow adoption, even for California which generally speaking is pretty green. But the fact that they're popping up makes me happy and at least gets the conversation started by those of us who are actually using the services - few though we may be for now!

Great to hear that you've been able to cycle in so many places; and definitely good to see more popping up as the green city narrative and aspiring towards it becomes the norm.

I had a chance to visit San Francisco a few months ago, and I can imagine how the hills might deter many from cycling around. But I did see some bike rental services and people cycling around in the downtown area where it's flatter by the piers.
