FORENSIC SCIENCE. PART #1
WHAT IS FORENSIC SCIENCE?
Forensic science is a science that can be applied to the administration of law. There are many specialist fields within forensic science ,such as fingerprint examination, ballistics, and blood splatter analysis. This fields are based on the common type of evidence found at crime scene.
USES OF FORENSIC SCIENCE
It can be used to identify and incriminate suspect by studying fingerprint, blood types or DNA profiles.
It can be used to prove or disprove claim made by suspects about an incident.
MOLECULAR BASIS OF FORENSIC BIOCHEMISTRY
The human genome consists of approximately 3 billion chemical base pair and 20,000-25,000 genes. 99.9% of base sequence among human is the same and 0.1% is different, it is this difference in DNA sequence that make every individual unique in their phenotypic appearance.
FINGERPRINTS
Fingerprint is an impression of the friction ridge skin found on the palmer side of a person's hand and on the sole of the skin in human and higher primates. The yerm "fingerprint" is often loosely employed for any friction skin impression.
Fingerprints have been used as a personal identification role for thousands of years.it id known that clay or wax "fingerseals" were used on contracts in ancient Babylon in the first half of 19th century BC,and also in Qin and Han dynasties in chinese records.(221 BC - 220 AD).
