A scientist must not only posses a great mind full of knowledge, but a deep curiosity of the natural world. Einstein quoted “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world”, all great scientists are gifted with imagination, and Benjamin is no exception. Through out his entire life he has always asked questions, and never afraid to do so with the fear of being ridiculed. He believes that the Universe is intelligent and has no reason to think nature purposely over complicates itself, but instead is manifested with simplicity from the quantum realm to highest universal scale.

Currently finishing his master’s degree in physics at Camerino University in Italy, he is expected to finish with 110/110, focusing on condensed matter physics and quantum mechanics. Originally starting his higher education in Astrophysics due to a deep fascination with the cosmos, he would like to incorporate his knowledge to help advance technology and science in the space sector. Growing up in poverty it was not easy to achieve the accomplishments he has made so far, school life was not great, and intelligence was not completely accepted by peers. After leaving school and working in customer service call centres he decided to follow his dreams of achieving academic recognition. Because of his experience with education in his early years, he decided that he would like to encourage others for a passion in science and has worked as a science communicator during his university studies, working for the National Museum of Wales and Science Made Simple. He received much recognition as a science communicator and enjoyed hundreds of hours engaging with children and the public, fascinating them with multiple scientific fields. As a teenager from the ages 12-17 he was a dedicated member of the Army Cadet Force, where he received numerous awards for sports, rifle shooting, first aid, and leadership gaining the rank of Sergeant. This experience taught him discipline, confidence, and leadership skills that are fundamental characteristics of Benjamin to this day.

Benjamin currently lives in Italy and has recently been gifted with a beautiful son Leonardo, he is engaged with a fantastic Italian woman, that believes he can do anything he puts his mind to. He is very affectionate of martial arts, in particular Karate, which he uses as a form of mediation and fitness regime. His dream is to leave an ever-lasting legacy in science and to contribute to the advancement of human civilisation, aiming for a Nobel Prize as he advances through his scientific career.

I was hoping if any professionals or anyone really could give me some feedback on this. It took me a while to write and I want to make sure it's as good as it can be, as I have an interview for my PhD project on Friday. Thank you in advance.

hello benjamin, i love cosmology and philosophy of science, Looking forward to see more posts from you. good luck.

Benjamin, this is very well written and should attract the attention of anyone on the committee who may be reading it and who will be interviewing you. If you come across in person as you do on paper (i.e. as a confident, determined, ambitious, yet humble, hard-working, knowledge-seeking individual with a passion for educating others) then you will be successful in your PhD project application!

Hello David, thanks very much for the feedback :)

It was all written from the heart so I hope tomorrow I can make a good impression. If I get the opportunity in this University I will be very happy and in a very good place.

I'll write a quick blog about the experience once I have a bit of time.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Here's wishing you all the best for tomorrow!
