Ruff walking in the grass

At Lake Neusiedler in eastern Austria I was able to take several pictures of the Ruff that was walking around in the grass and looking for food there. Me and Stefan were lying on a sleeping pad and waited for birds to get closer. The ruff and some other birds did and I could take several nice pictures of it. On this meaddow there were also some ground squirrels running around and this made it a perfect spot for some wildlife photography.

In the morning when the grass is still wet from the mist in the night it is a good idea to bring a sleeping pad or some other protection for lying down in the meaddow otherwise you will get wet. So this is one thing that I often carry in my car and take it out if I need it.

The bird was not really amazed by our presence and walked around in the grass without any fear so it came pretty close to our location. There were also several other birds at the lake shore and White tailed Eagle was hunting there. When the Ducks and the Geese started to become nervous I knew it was not far.
