The white-backed woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos)

This big woodpecker was discovered by me at a fallen birch. They love to explore the old fallen trees, which are already completely decayed and covered with moss. Firstly, the bark on such trees is very fragile, and secondly there are a large number of insects that are very fond of such sick and old trees. In the autumn, one can often hear a barely perceptible grunt of these woodpeckers scurrying around on the ground. But his brother - a Great Spotted Woodpecker on the contrary, with the advent of autumn rises in the trees higher and higher.
